Chamberlains actually have the cartridge filters for the masks on the left, you get different ones for different applications. I bought ones from them when I sprayed my mini, ones specifically for spray painting but there are a few variants.

Yes. The audio and video is two separate feeds, as they have two separate sources. Somewhere they need to be combined before transmission, and this combining needs to be in sync. Have you ever watched a youtube video and then the audio lags (or leads) the video? When you stop and restart...

Using it to synchronize sound and visuals makes sense to me. Remember the sound originates from within the car, while the visuals are captured by multitude cameras around the place.
