Race Dog
Took delivery of the new ride on Thursday. Rode it back to Port Alfred from PE, but with no stopping allowed since the battery was bone dry. Topped it up with some distilled water, charged it and it starts! Many of the bolts and screws were rusted tight in place, but most of them came out with some hammering and expletives released into the air. They were promptly replaced with SS cap screws when they let go. She broke the 26K kilo barrier today in Sibuya, and so far I'm quite happy with her. It's a 2004 KLR650-A18, Kawa red (no surprises there) with a sweet sounding Air Age can slapped on the back. Unsure if the doo has been done, but that side of the motor has been opened before so it could well be. The light cowling is a bit skew from a previous topple, and it was very dusty when I got it. A bit of elbow grease and turtle wax and she's looking good as new
