Okay so I was totally bummed that I could not go on the Rebel Dog Run to Zinyala as I was home alone with my 3 year old son
But if life gives you lemons, pull out the Tequila...
Just after breakfast I ask the pocket rocker if he wants to go for a ride with the scooter...
The answer came as a big yes.

So we got on the scooter and as soon as it was started the words i was hoping for came out his mouth
" Oros ons gaan offroad?"
Once! I have the coolest kid in the universe



I know, I know all parents think that but he is flippen awesome!

Hang a shot left and hit the veldjie behind the house. Okay not so mush a veldjie as a veld... Its pretty big and there is quite a few trails and a rather large abandoned road construction happening in there.
Get in the veld and he is like "Oros ons moet soontoe gaan" and points in the direction of a rather large hill with one hell of a rocky road leading to it. I have gone up there before - on the X Challenge one up and it was a bit of a mission but I thought hey what the hell he wants to go there so lets give it a bash.

I was pretty stoked that I managed to get the scooter up there. Quite a lekker view from the top.

Then he reckons hey lets go down again. So I have no problem driving up stuff but I have a little bit of a mental block going down but I left him in charge of where to go and he want's to go down that way then we go down.

The photo does not do justice to how rocky and steep the path is.

Lekka was that on rail line side  :eek:
 
We made it up and down, trust me it was a little gnarly at times. I am pretty impressed at the little 106cc scooter and that it handled that as well as it did. Those of you that know me will know I am not moms smallest kid. And that with the mini me standing between my legs.

After getting down we took several trails to several spots. Every time he sees a dump site for rocks or sand he makes me stop to trow rocks (mostly at me, laughing out of his tummy each time he gets close to getting me. Admittedly he throws like a girl but I will fix that)
There is many,many of these sites so there was many stops but I was having just as much fun as he.

Ended up running next to the freeway, took some lekker fast single track trails a few water run off's some unfinished roads, threw allot of rocks and had a total blast.

The second last pic... He made me drive up here with him. No fear in this one

Yip this is standing in the garage
Every now and then he gets on it and says " ek moet al my groente eet sodat ek kan groot seun word sodat ek hom kan ry. " he cant reach the floor yet but the day he does it will go out of the garage. He styles his bicycle that never had trainer wheels fitted and he figured out how it works all on his own. I bought it and left it, never showed him how or forced him to it. His curiosity taught him how to ride bike in about an afternoon.
