Never mind Colloda Corolla, check this oot.
The 1200Z workshop manual gives total engine oil capacity as 4.2litres ?? With filter replacement 3.4litres and without filter replacement 3.1litres
With the oil drained and the filter replaced, and the bike level on the main stand, the crankcase and oil tank is refilledl with 3.4litres of oil. After starting and allowing to idle for a few minutes, the bike is switched off and the engine oil is allowed to settle..
After 10 minutes, when checking the oil level at the window, the oil has settled to just below the minimum mark. Adding another 200ml (total 3.6 litresl) is needed to bring the oil to the required level (between the minimum and maximum mark)
Is there a clever dog in this pack that can explain the discrepancy; also how Yamaha arrives at 4.2 litres total engine oil capacity?
