I have just had a Scotts steering dampener fitted to my GS800. Bracket was specially made for me by Gavin at Shadowline. Sure if you ask him nicely and part with a few ZAR he will make one for you too 
. Has made a huge difference to my bike in the dirt especially on hard rutted dirt and embedded surface rocks. I ride my bike with knobllies all the time and at 160km on tar they misbehave and the dampener sorts that out one time daddy ;D So there you are sure I'm the first lucky bugger but not the last I'm sure.
