After 18000 km I am removing the standard plastic F800GS bash plate to fit a proper one in preparation for a Vic Falls trip. Problem is that the two right hand side nuts won't loosten. Any hints? Are they locktightened?
If you turn the 13mm nut too hard the rubber vibration damper the bolt is attached to will tear. Looks like I will either have to destroy the rubber dampers and buy new ones or cut the plastic bash plate to get it loose. The hex "heads" of the bolts attached to the rubber sits in hex recesses moulded in the plastic plate but looks like they have stripped - they are of no help.
Anyone with a solution?
