I made some progress this weekend. Fitted the new bearings and test fitted the gearbox. Then I managed to fit one half of the crank into the case, when I went in for the second half but it didn't go according to plan, case half and bearing heated up nicely but I guess not enough as it didn't go...

Thanks Windhond, I'll be sure to check compatiblity before I buy anything. I don't want to modify the case at all, so I am thinking of putting in some 250x or WR250 gears. Don't know when I'll get to that though. I have been travelling a lot for work the last couple of weeks and the week coming...

After thinking about it more logically I realised the last time the bottom section was put together they probably put the too long bolt in by one of the short bolt holes on the water pump cover. This resulted in the bolt bottoming out and popping off some aluminium case bits into the shared...
