    Lane splitting ethics

I would have thought that would as obvious you pull out with a bike or car when the intersection is safe. What is annoying is when people push to the front, and then when the coast is clear they amble off like a pensioner overdosed on sleeping pills

    Lane splitting ethics

My other pet hate. Bikes splits lanes and gets to front of the robots ( we all do it) But , but then the doos putters off and holds up all the traffic behind them. Get in front, then bugger off at a rate of knots. Big culprits are normally scooters and delivery riders.

    Dunlop D 606 or Pirelli MT 21?

On a tubliss system you should run a sealant. It sorts out the small leaks from thorns etc. Bigger holes still require a plug out on the trail. I’ve been running the tubliss system for more than 10 years on my off-road bikes. Love how I can air down in real tech terrain, the lightness of the...

    1300 GS BeeMwee.

Saw my first 1300 in the flesh yesterday. Damn it’s a good looking bike 😎. A friend upgraded to one after owning 2 of the previous 1250s. He has nothing but glowing praise for the 1300.

Engine oil so black so soon

Here is a pic of my much maligned Ford Ranger 3.2L dipstick. This is the oil 1500km after its last oil change at 170 000km. Vehicle was only serviced by Ford every 20 000km. I’ve now reduced that to 10 000km, hence the mileage above. I bought it from a mate 6 months ago. Amazingly clean for a...

    Does oil expire?

If lubricants are stored in a place with significant hot and cold fluctuations, you can get additive fallout eventually. Best way to check is pouring it into a clear container and look for non homogeneity. In some countries an expiry date is mandatory, hence why it may be printed on your bottle...

Engine oil so black so soon

You are correct, QA/QC, was a massive improvement journey over the years. It’s one of the reasons I trust a few of the international brands, some of the National and independent brands, not so much.

Engine oil so black so soon

I use many different brands of lubricants in my cars and bikes, not just Castrol. My reason for commenting on this thread is the pure ignorance shown by many posters. Let’s talk about Castrol GTX next. The formulation used today is very different to that used 30 years ago. To illustrate my...

Engine oil so black so soon

So Bp actually own Castrol( I see from previous posts you don’t like the brand), bought them in 2000. There are no Bp branded lubricants, only Castrol. For a while both brands existed after the purchase. However formulations used were the same. Furthermore, Bp don’t own a refinery that refines...

I have their tyre lever kit. Pretty decent quality.

Engine oil so black so soon

Just to clear up some misinformation in this thread. All lubricants use base oils , that are made up of complex hydrocarbons. No such thing as a type of oil being high in carbon and the others not. Some base oils are more resistant to oxidation, which means they turn black less fast when...
