    My Honda CRF250L ownership experience

I follow a channel called LRTime on Youtube and, in a nutshell, the host explained that in order to reach emissions standards, a lot of manufacturers are running lighter weight oils. Often to the detriment of the longevity of the engines, especially higher mileage engines. In ZA, we get pretty...

    The DR650 thread

A slight sidebar..... If you speak to a financial advisor, they'd tell you that unless your house is earning you money, it's actually a liability but that's purely from a financial perspective and technically, they'd be wrong because they do not measure the 'value in use'. Also, I think...

    The DR650 thread

Let's see what creeps out of the woodwork. I can justify it to some extent as a backup commuter bike if the old GS dies. ;) at least that's what I'm telling myself.

    The DR650 thread

I see the prices are high. I look at around 50k I think. Negotiable either way a bit. There is a huge gap between what I think things are worth and what seller's think their bikes are worth. This is going to be a struggle. I just don't want one in a rough state. Done that a few too many times in...

    The DR650 thread

I may be in the market for a Clean, reasonably low mileage (under 25000km) DR650, preferably with a long range tank. Let me know if anything becomes available please. Would also prefer a slightly newer model if possible.

    I'm a little MIFFED ....

BMW generally has service a cut above all the other manufacturers. Why not consider the new BMW 900 when it becomes available here. It sounds like a fabulous bike based on the reviews.

    Show us your XR

A little off track but what's the XR400R like compared to the XR600R. I've had lots of XR600R's, XR650L and the older XR200R and XR500R. All lekker but the 400 has always eluded me.

    XL750 Transalp (New Model 2023)

Maybe the 200k + price tag has everything to do with it. Perhaps in international terms, it's cheap but earning and spending capacity in South Africa has been so badly diminished that this is a stretch, even for higher earning individuals... .....unless you're one of those that likes to be...

Help me decide - Sertao or XT660R

Owned an XT660R. Didn't care much for the bike. Nice motor but that's pretty much where it ended. Rear undersprung, front a little harsh. Bugger-all ground clearance, weird side panels irritated my legs when standing, snatchy throttle response. I loved the Tenere 660 though, completely different...

    2006 (carb) 900 Triumph Scrambler - oil ?

Gerard, I was reluctant to give advice on oils because I'm no specialist hence my advice to follow what's specified in the manual. I think I used Castrol ActivoX, can't remember clearly but that Motul you specified earlier is what I'd use now if it were my choice.

For Sale Triumph Scrambler - Sold

Nooooo FI, read my post above. I've had two FI scams and I owned this one and this is the best of the scrams I owned, and it will eat the FI's for breakfast performance wise due to the Dynojet kit in the carbs.

For Sale Triumph Scrambler - Sold

You'll get about 270km (about 5.5-5.75 l/100km) on a tank but then it's pretty dry. I owned this bike before OB. It's actually one of the better one's I've owned (I've had about eight 865's). Especially because this one is carby so you can customize the clocks without messing with the engine...
