looks like 3-4mm ally. steel will be waaaaaayyy to heavy. why not use uPVC? get it from Maizey's Plastics and you can shape it with a heat gun ;)

i dont think the thickness of powder or paint is the cause of this. the gap is really determined by the thickness of the disk and pads. the whole mechanism rotates off the shock where it is mounted. did you have a little white vibration damper between your piston and pad?

you said you were going pods, those pipe will not be necessary then... if your carbs leak a lot through the overflow in the float bowl, then a fuel resistant pipe will be a wise choice, if you dont, a silicone hose will do fine.

Gees dude, nice work! so glad youre getting properly stuck in there! Hope the spokes lst without rusting too fast again. I do however use an anti corrosive stuff on the spokes on my CB. At the time i couldnt afford nice fancy stainless ones, so i opted for a repro zinc plated set, and staying so...
