Thanks EtienneBnk. Already used some Autosol (great product) but only with a cloth. Cautions about combining the Autosol with steel wool. Sure it wont damage whatever coating is on the headers? Best.

Although not the best of starts - I finally got my 1200. Big shout out and thanks to petri oosthuizen (and Jomar) - Wat 'n great mens! Sorted me with finance, went out of his way to go and view the bike, borrowed me his bike trailer and even gave me a book on adventure riding through Africa...

Thanks Pannas, The closest BMW dealership is in Bloemfontein. They are willing to collect the bike from Bethlehem (they do certain routes) and do the annual service @ R2k (basically an oil & brake fluid change). Chain spray also included - but i already did some chain maintenance. The bmw...
