You should take it to BMW. Any 1200 - older Air Cooled models - BMW will do the recall if it wasn't done. Bought a bike about 3 years ago, send it for service - recall was done even though the bike is a '08 model.

A Lithium battery doesn't like the heat of the engine bay and should preferably only be used in a dual battery setup where the battery is kept in the load bin. Go for lead acid or AGM battery.
