I want to join but one of the, many, curses of being a teacher is that I cannot choose my own holiday time  :xxbah:

Jupiter - this is basically the exact ride that you gave me the other year. It's amazing! Do it if you can.

Good point. I think I am doing what you are speaking of in terms of backing off.

I have done that before in extremely thick sand. You use the throttle to moderate speed and not the brakes. So if you are in thick thick sand, you really push the throttle but then back off of it a bit and then push it again. How do you do it when in thick sand with a really heavy bike?

What do you do? When riding sand, your throttle is either on or off and you shouldn't be using your clutch at all. I wouldn't blip it constantly but when in thick sand, I go full throttle and ease off of it once I have momentum, am standing and 'above' the thick sand. How do you ride through...

    2008 BMW X-Challenge (ABS) - R45k

The guy buying it delayed for too long and complained because of the complications of hooking back up the ABS. He was financing it and he took over 2 weeks and it just got very complicated. Sorry :(

    Roadworthy - watchout for Durbanville!

Best excuse I have heard for failing a bike was a guy whose X Challenge was failed because it didn't have passenger footpegs. On the papework an Xchallenge can carry a passenger so it needed footpegs. Has anyone ever tried to carry a passenger on one of those?!

    Oasis Spitbraai Nov 2015

I once woke up in a panic at a Bash because I thought Anton had died as he had stopped snoring. Sheesh, that is quite a snore!

Whats the best touring screen for an X Challenge?

But why? My X and I have done many thousands of kms without one. In fact, I found that when I had one on, it reduced visibility for technical rides and the air flow hit more even more in the face than without one - it was channeled up in a seriously weird way. Plus they look prettier without one.
