I have the smaller one and did 3000kms with it one trip late last year (Baviaans, Die Hel etc) , full all the time and didnt leak at all.

I use my 10 year old ATG Overlanders on my 1250. Lost a loop here and there but they still work great. I have Motoradical pannier frames but it doesnt matter what frames you have with soft luggage.

I moved from a 850GS to a new 1250GS in October last year and I have found the 1250 is easier for me to manouver in slow turns (eg parking). I am short at 1.7m so have always had trouble with these big adv bikes and keeping them upright at slow speed. I dropped the 850 twice in 3 years...
