ok so Ive skimmed over this thread but from a hassle I had with mine a while ago and a lot of head scratching
if the starter doesn't swing over fast enough the sensor that makes the spark happens won't happen
meaning you can swing it with a spanner and you wont get anything in my case the...

Ross before you remove the plug make sure to blow the area clean with a compressor lots of dust and crap gathers in that hollow
once you have tested the plugs it could then be the coil or the starter motor if it doesn't swing fast enough it won't fire
Easiest then is to try another starter...

Mayhem had one of mine redone and it didn't work because the shaft didn't run true afterwards
as far as I know the polyurethane runs throughout not just the front section
