Built into the dash. The easiest for me was just adding resistors when I changed to LED. I used Barkbusters resistors that Flying Brick had in their store, but I’ve seen similar in many stores.

Yes you can, it uses a round Garmin connector rather than a (flimsy) USB connector. Very rugged, but quite difficult to find.
