So.. the OUTDO GEL 12AL-BS battery lasted from May 2014 until April 2019 (i.e. 5 years ..without any problems!) A gel battery seem to be the way to go..

Hi Bushman 2, The battery fitted is a gel battery..completely maintenance free....no more taking panels on & off to check electrolite levels ....I have done a few thousand km since fitting & am 100% happy.  No trouble starting.  I would recommend this type of battery to everyone.  I bet Elon...

Hi Lecap, Thanks for the response... I have read many of your responses over the last year or so and am surprised that you have not encountered the Enertec range of batteries.  Have a look at their website - enertec.co.za - prices seem reasonable. However the EN 12-18 was the incorrect model...

Anyone used the Enertec 12 -18 battery in a Dakar 650? Do they improve start up ...how long do they last...etc
