Just bought one a few weeks ago. Done 900 fun kms with wife in sidecar. Opened up a whole new world of biking. Going anywhere slowly and taking your time to smell the roses rather than belting down the freeway. ;D
Used the KLR for a bit of night riding in 2012 and the stretch between Alldays-Tom Burke and Ellisras was particularly scary with the poor lighting. Need some decent spots as I will be doing it again this year.
Using an E08 on the rear of the KLR at present. Admittedly mostly on tar but up to 12000kms so far. Best tyre I have used so far. Going Kosi Bay to Ponta do Ouro in February. A lot of sand and dunes there so a less aggressive tyre may be best.
