The Cape Town round of the National trials competition will be held at Berg River Dam, Franschhoek on 15 and 16 Oct 2022. If you are interested in trials or really want to see why you should stand and ride a bike, feel free to come watch.

As far as I know you have to your sample taken (They shove a thing up your nose to tickle your brain) and within 72h after sampling you need to cross the boarder. The results takes between 24-48h from the sampling. That is how my friends had to do it who just came from Namibia for a few days...

Just plan for your Covid testing. Secondly, just make sure if those border crossings are actually open. The section along the West Coast has some sanding spots as you said you are new to gravel roads. Don't pack too heavy. Enjoy the trip

That statues are cool. Someone has some time on their hands. I saw this on the postal route last year (June 2019) and turned around to go take a photo. The rocks spell "PARANOID". I am not sure if it is still there.
