me too, just not looking forward to splittin' another one ;-) Just got info from some other forum also. Apparantly it can go spinning also without chain drive, but then it just amplifies the vibrations. Gonna remove it or turn it on a lathe.

hi there. Just bought a XL500 also and my balancer chain is worn. Also curious what happens if you get all that stuff out and leave the rear sprocket freewheeling. Just finished splitting and rebuilding another XL and not looking forward to split this one also. Will split it at a later time...

Hi Grego, nice build! don't grind off the head of the oilpump screw, mine was ridiculously tight also, but with a good screwdriver and putting it in the bench you should be able to unscrew it! Or else try one of them screwdrivers you hit on the back and it rotates. (slagschroevendraaier @...
