One of the reasons I got back into bikes was to get access to high sites to look for Erica's (attached is Macowanii, taken Saturday in the Kogelberg somewhere). I have been hiking up various mountains over the years but it's becoming more of a mission doing this solo. Hence the 650 Dak. Access is often limited because of gates, locks, threatening signs etc. I avoid entering private land because, well, if it was mine and I saw some geriatric loitering on it, I would get pissy too. That said, there are sites,especially where cell phone masts are, where access is possible, e.g. Hans se Kop. If anyone knows of routes please let me know. These higher lying sites often contain some super interesting plants , especially in the fynbos areas.
