I had a 650gs that cut out when I turned to the left.. I eventually found a wire that had been pinched by the steering stops. You mention you did neck bearings, maybe check for that..

2004 660R, Bought it 27 June 2018 at 31000 km. Now sitting on 45000km. Did usual services myself and replace only rear brake disc and pads. No other issues... Edit, and cush rubbers.

No spark is most probably the source coil for the ignition system. I had mine go twice when I owned my IT. Easy to rewind.

Mine's only on 44k but a friend of mine has one with over 100k on the clock and still going strong.. Those Italian engines are bullet proof.. Only thing you need to be aware of is the primary drive nut on the crankshaft sometimes comes loose and sounds like a big-end knock. Other than that...

Congrats, those XT's are great bikes, you gonna love it.

I been down this road recently.. The magnets were not damaged so I could have them epoxied back onto the rotor. Other alternative is eBay.. Agents want about 7k for a new flywheel and second hand ones are just not available..
