    Installing an Accelerator Module

Based on my experience on the 800, I also called it snake oil. Works for some, not for others.........

800 GS (2009) leaking brake fluid

Your first point is valid - the back brakes will work, even if the front are rendered useless (which will happen if enough fluid leaks out, or if any goes onto the disks). Remember that the rear brake is much less effective than the front - so take it easy. The second point is not valid for...

    Air filter

I used the BMC for the life of my 800 - in 95000kms, I never had a problem. I always put a fresh lick of grease on the inside of the airbox - this traps dust and gives you a very good indication  if you are getting dust past the air filter. I cleaned and re-oiled once between services if I was...

    Impressions on the new KTM1050

Those 'wings' come with the 1190Adv too - they are just there to stop cosmetic damage as a result of a sidestand incident - better than replacing panels because they are cheap. As you mentioned, they get removed when you put crashbars on. The Grab handles are also stronger than one thinks (if...

Did you take it for a ride?

Dont push down on the pillion grab handles.

To throw the cat amongst the pigeons .... Without the stock plate and its associated mountings in place, there is a fair deal less support for the base of the handle. I would question the validity of a warranty claim.

    Quietest helmet

I have the Shoei Gt Air - I am not blown away. Its not that quiet (although it is quieter than the Arai TX3 that I had before it) and without the pinlock insert, it is the worst helmet that I have owned for fogging up. It is comfortable and functional, but my next helmet is likely to be the...

Hope that you will be sorted after this. Very frustrating!

800GSA with a jumping rev count needle and cuts out

Agreed - but it is in the S/ST section of that forum and the bikes share a lot of hardware.

800GSA with a jumping rev count needle and cuts out

The best suggestion there seems to be : My two idle issues were: *Hunting for idle (as the dealer calls it) or wildly erratic, or surging idle r p m. *Dying when rolling off the throttle below about 1500 r p m when the bike was depending on the low r p m idle system to function. Both occurred...

800GSA with a jumping rev count needle and cuts out

Could be the TPS, but they should be able to determine if that is a problem with the diagnostic kit.

800GSA with a jumping rev count needle and cuts out

Then I doubt that it is the fuel pump. The usual fuel pump cut-out symptom is at speed / revs.

800GSA with a jumping rev count needle and cuts out

I believe that the cutting out (fuel pump) and the rev counter jumping are two separate issues. The rev counter problem is more likely electronic and could well be to do with the adaption values. Possibly a faulty throttle position sensor.

    Heat shields for 1190R

5 minutes. 1 screw and a few cable ties. Took longer to put on as I first covered the frame with Gorilla tape so that if dust got in under the frame protector, it does not chafe the paintwork.

    Heat shields for 1190R

The frame protector and heat protector is a single unit. It would be easy to use a dremel to cut them apart (as I had to at one point to accommodate the Rumbux crash bar fitting).
