I bit of research hopefully id'd my problem.... Two cables coming from throttle mechanism, rear one (closest to tail light) is gas Bowden cable where freeplay is set for 3 - 5mm. The front cable is directly connected to idle motor and obviously if set wrong will affect the closed throttle/idle...

Thx BFG,I had a look and it sounds exactly like my issue, what I can say for sure is that it never done it till I fiddled with the cables to reduce throttle freeplay, so I really hope this is rather my problem. Guess the next step is to research "how to properly set and adjust throttle cables?"...

Did not get them.  Planned to clean them. Will take them one at a time (adv & smt) and if needs also get strainer and screen. Will check valve clearances and might then need shims also. Advise?

Bought 2 "service kits" at the dealer yesterday. 1 for 990R adv and 1 for SMT. Plugs, Oil filters, Air filters and copper washers.......No oils or any liquids......R 2600 :o :o :o........Masehare ???

Hi Xchallenge and Salty,  both scenario could be significant.  New battery in the last month and i fiddled with cable settings to decrease freeplay on throttle.  I did try to get cable  back to original setting, but not difference.  Will check both options and come back. Thank You!

Adv,  I am in Wellington in western cape. How did the KC's do on grsvel? 1190, I have the manual must say that setting as I bought it from Redhawk seems to handle quite well in most conditions but will sure look into a more adventure setup.
