I like the look of the new GS. It looks so space age :D But for 'off' road adventures no thanks. But its better than a Goldwing or something for tar adventures.

They have knee pads. In comparison with knee guards I don't think they offer that much protection. I used knee guards with the pants and the fit worked well.

The 07 ad 08 models are not that low. Get the 09 if you are looking for the short one. Fuel economy is good and with a nice screen its a comfortable ride. I've had no problems yet. I think it is a great option for what you are looking for...
