Hmmm, I am also a bit concerned about the bag hanging over the exhaust. The Giant Loop I know has some kind of 'anti heat' protection in that area? I guess I would just put my expensive stuff on the other side on my first trip :P
Do you also have to strap the brace to your body with the Leatt? I always thought it was a unit on it's own, but it looks like there are straps in those pics you posted?

I own an x-country. Love the bike to bits for what I do with it.
Seat is comfy, it is light and agile. It is not the best for technical terrain though and could do with an aux tank.
How is that mattress Jacobsroodt? I saw them at outdoor warehouse but they felt a bit pap?
Got myself that 360 tent today though, going camping with it this weekend.
IMO it is not about the surface or the length, but the experience. Going to a place you have not been or doing things you would not normally do.
