EV consumption, running costs (Volvo EX30)

I've added another column to the OP, “Shown kWh/100L”. This is what the car shows I used, vs. What is measured from the recharging. Assuming the car is accurate it indicates an efficiency of about 85%. So, roughly 15% of the energy I put into the car is wasted.

So here's one for the experts. Engine vacuum. It's supposed to be (roughly) at its highest when the engine is idling, which makes sense to me. The internet talks about 17 to 18 in.Hg. As you rev up the increases slightly for a moment, then settles at a low value… depending how far you have the...

Yeah I'm quite impressed with the one from Temu, it was the only cheap(ish) handheld one I could fine that has cursors for you to measure timing, etc.

If I read your post correctly you're asking if the coil's own circuitry doesn't keep the coil energised and then release the energy at the time of spark? Sorry if I misunderstood, but no the coils do not do that. Because the coil is essentially an inductor it cannot hold energy, like a capacitor...

Right, so the EMF issue seems sorted, time to address the dwell setting. With a regular distributor the dwell is an angle of engine rotation. For example, 50 degrees. This means the coil is energised for 50 degrees of engine rotation, this is the time during which the points remain closed. The...

I must be really dof but I cannot see any offence in the post I (or Dookie) made. Anyway, maybe it's because he skipped his last estrogen shot or something.

Well what do you know.😀 I replaced the sparkplugs. Old ones had no resistance, new ones have 5000ohm or thereabouts resistance. This is what the waveform should look like. No more backEMF! The proof is in the pudding, thay say... She stutters a bit as I did not have the choke open. The...

I have to agree, I got myself one a while back and the things you can do with the footage just blows my mind. It likes records a ball of video from the center point, and you can pan and zoom your viewing windows around on this ball. Simply mind boggling, all without moving the camera itself around.

OK just checked and I have the BP6E spark plugs, not the ones with built in resistor. As a start I'll get the rights ones for these coils, even if just to prevent the coils from failing prematurely.
