Nuvi's cannot handle tracks. Most phone gps reveiver does not require cell signal. You can download stand alone gps apps that does not require cell signal at all (OSMAND for example)

The Montana has got a power supply cable. Nothing wrong with that Zumo 660 as well. If you use tracks, import them and switch off "auto recalculate" it navigates tracks just as good. I have a Montana and we frequently navigate where there is no roads. Never needed the compass function.

Yes you will have to buy newer Garmin maps. Alternatively you can download OSM maps for Garmin at https://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ (Getting better a the time and its free) You will have to install the maps on a computer and then transfer the maps to your GPS. You can also ask the shop where...
