I forgot to mention, there are plenty excellent mechanics/rebuilders/tuners on the forum, so your R50K will be well spent.

You might laugh, but I would offer R25K to R30K.  It is an old bike, things will go wrong, I can guarantee you this.  Add R50K(realistic!) on whatever you pay and ask yourself the same question. You can get a 990R for 90K.
