I just give mine a new piece of braai wood (rooikrans) every other week .They love chewing on that stuff. Before I blocked of access to the wood they would leave numerous pieces all over the yard. Got gatvol , blocked it off and now give them new pieces to strip off the bark.

Once every two months or so, just to get the worst muck off. Don't do spit and polish , silicone etc. Just clean enough do that crud and k.k doesn't weld itself to the warm bits. I am very punctual with services and never skip anything in that department.

My 2008 KLR just 200m outside Koedoeskloof. Kept on blowing the main fuse. (Loom rubbed through) .Not a bad place to get stranded :) Left the bike at Koedoeskloof, got a lift with the band that played there the evening before. Insurance sorted out the rest.
