What is this thing for? It sits behind the rear footpegs higer up the frame on both sides. It is not attached to anything....

This was how tankgirl and I packed for a 9 day trip where we camped almost every night. I was on the 660Z and she was on the X-Challenge (that is her helmet on the seat) We f*cking HATE packing heavy!

This is how I packed for an 8 day trip.... granted we did not camp, but packed very light.

Down Jacket (Puffer Jacket), they weigh nothing and pack up very small. If it is cold you can even sleep in it. If it is warm, then you can stuff it into a pillow case and use it as a pillow. I also carry one of these tiny back packs. They are very useful when needing to carry stuff around:
