Dot 5.1 has a higher boiling point, that is the only difference. You can even mix the two. Both will work fine. Just don't use Dot 5 as it is silicone based.

The Kendas are fine but they have a very soft carcass and puncture quite easily. I would definitely go for MT21 or D606. Michelin Tracker is also an option but might be too aggressive for your application

It is more than strong enough for that purpose. Cut two pieces of PVC pipe and pack as much weight on it as you can. As long as the weight is evenly distributed directly from the top it will take almost as much weight as you can throw at it.

It always bothers me if someone advertises something with "needs a service". What does that mean? My bikes never feel like they need a service. What is wrong with the bike that makes the seller believe that it needs a service?

I suspect it uses the same starter motor as the SWM which in turn uses the same as the Ducati.

The new ones should be good. Keeping them in the bar is not rocket science. Even a rawl bolt that fits inside the bar works well enough. Some even have a rubber sleeve if the insert fits too loose.
