I know of more than one new shape KLR with more than 100 000Km on the clock without any of the major catastrophes you mention, maybe a dud, or ****** maintenance foreman :peepwall: Have to agree though the new shape is a butt ugly bike and just has no character, much like a DR :pot:

.........New KLR is butt ugly, the AT is a better tourer on tar, maintenance might be cheaper with the KLR? Both are utterly reliable but the AT will be second hand, what is spares availability like?

So more or less US$350.00......R3500.00? nothing getting cheaper is it?, but these tanks not only take a bit more fuel they also protect the radiator, to me this is the real benefit.

Pete I'm also looking for a tank, maybe 'bulk order' ;D will bring costs down? what will the tank cost landed?

Very lekka ride! was there over the weekend as well, Dorset police station in the middle of nowhere.....I built that station in 2000! Another thing about that area is the abundance of wildlife, fantastic but also risky when they cross your path especially in one of those sandy sections! : :o

 Not us, we were 4 riders, although I did see 2 guys on red Fuglys in Vaalwater....would have greeted!

looks like a good weekend was had, recognising some of the faces I can only imagine the kakpraat around the campfire! I was also in that area over the weekend, did the lunch at Vaalwater thing after Rankins etc. now the metre thick sand thing........we had a very funny incident at one of these...
