It's simply the most compact and convenient way to carry extra fuel. When not in use it takes no space and folds into a small easily strapped roll. So simple to fill it and ride about 100km. Fill the bike and stash the bag.

It's much less arduous to ride a 690 at 120 on a tar section than carry a GS1200 up Robbie's Pass. In fact the tar bit on the 690 is also fun.
