    Yet another Gumtree scammer

Does this **** never stop. I advertised a 690 on Gumtree and as usual I get one of these. Hello i'm Hanna From Norway, i'm glad to know you still have it for sale, I'm interested in buying it and i would like to get it as soon as i can but firstly I would like to know how long you have had it...

    Motorcycle travel in Namibia

I think we bikers have an inflated idea on how big we are in the travel market. Truth be told we are a tiny percentage and our demise will not cause a financial ripple, anywhere . in Namibia the big tour vans and 4x4 rentals are the money and the supporters of the lodges.

First time I’ve seen this - or rubbish I’ve bought

On a side note. Before buying a dirt bike one should learn  the absolute basics of bike  maintenance and servicing. I can’t believe guys buy a dirt bike and don’t change/clean the air filter after every dusty ride. Many have never taken it out or know where it is. Check the water and oil ...

What a cool reply. Both parties seem like decent chaps. Could so easily have turned into social media slugfest.

    Motorcycle travel in Namibia

Guys , I was taken aside by 3 different guide/ conservation people last month and told we we on borrowed time in Namibia. If anyone of us screws it up we all suffer. I had a call from a big operator (bikes in Namibia) this afternoon and he hammered me about South Africans doing tours there and...

    Motorcycle travel in Namibia

In the river beds the guys with the big bikes are unable to ride slowly. They speed up in a the sand to get stable and we all  know the heavier the bike the more speed is needed. The allowed and safe speed is about 40kph.  Basically the bikes are unsuited to the river beds and should not venture...

    Motorcycle travel in Namibia

Are our days of unlimited access over in Namibia? The past couple of years has seen a huge increase in adventure biking and 4x4 touring in Namibia, both in Kaokoland and the wide open southern regions. The wilderness areas have largely been unregulated other than the coastal concessions but I...

BEST bike for African trip options

The KTM640 in my opinion is the marker against which all adventure bikes should be set. Not great for speed but bullet proof, awesome fuel range, great suspension (way better than 690 or 701), strong subframe to carry gear and still a sexy bike. I can't see why anyone wants to take a big twin...

    Number Plate size

I get my plates set with all the numbers/letters as close as possible on a standard plate and simply cut off the edges whilst making sure I keep the little SABS logo. Cops have pulled me of a couple of timesf but once I show the plate is as good as a complete plate with the correct size digits...

Boom Shakalaka, 6 day trip thru the Richtersveld, Namakwa and Tankwa Karoo

My favourite tracks that I thought nobody knew about. That is some of the best riding on the planet, but tough going on the big bikes unsupported. Awesome trip. And I'm now even more stoked to be heading that way again on Friday.

Yes, another Kaokoland option (Max 7 riders)

WildWood Motorcycle Tours have been offering Kaokoland tours since 2014. Check out these short tour videos from June this year.  https://youtu.be/VTaXc6ixASc or another  from 2018  https://youtu.be/VC5s8HJFvmw My tours are without doubt more expensive than other local options and sadly out of...

Seat concepts - who sell in SA

And then if you have a problem with the product sending it back to the States is another ball ache. One your local dealer would have taken care of and absorbed the cost. In my experience the price difference between importing and supporting the local dealer is often way less than it initially...

    Orange River Wild Ride

Herklaas, if sand doesn't scare you this trip is easy. I've had many big bikes, KTM1290,1190,990, GS800,HP2 and even a GS1200 complete the tour. This is the toughest bit. https://youtu.be/FiFGQnZzBnQ

    G310GS recall

What I find strange is the denial that the bikes and components are being sourced in the east to save money and that cheaper parts means poorer quality. Not only the little Beemers but all the brands.  Eg: KTM always had Renthal bars but the new models have no name unbranded (read China/India...

*** Sorted *** Advice for a new Lady Rider...?

I guess the hubby's want a bike fast enough for the wife to keep up with them. The bigger 650 type will work for that on the tar but will work against them on the dirt. A little 250 will do 100kph on the tar as wells the dirt,  which is probably the speed they ride their 1200 on the dirt. Check...
