I think there is to much talk about tires and most of the stuff is in peoples heads. It has to be round and rubber.
All the manufacturers make decent product and the choice should be about your level of compromise between dirt and road bias. That said , on the big bikes a good 50/50 tire like...
I know this is worn out old story but a 650 is a big bike for experienced riders.
Back in the 70's/80's only the toughest meanest riders dared riding a 28hp XT500 or XR500.
Today we recommend a 40hp 180kg bike to a learner girl. - CRAZY
To turn a bike on gravel at any cruising speed you have...

Hardy, from the outside it appears you have a winning formula. My advise would be to stick to your plan and and continue giving what your clients obviously enjoy. When I bumped into you guys in Palmwag in July there seemed to be great spirit in the camp and reading reports on social media I've...

I heard a story about a biker from Indonesia being killed in Namibia or Botswana over the past couple of days.
Story I heard that he was was part of a tour group of Indonesian guys that hired bikes in Cape Town and were heading for Botswana. Sounds like the gap between riders was a bit small...
Right now the 990 is the only option, simply because there are no 790's available fo a couple of months .
Pretty much proof of how big an impact the 790 has had.
I was at KTM Cape Town Saturday and the punters were lining up for test rides.
When I wrote a tongue in cheek 'panning the 790'...
The 990 is a bit of a pig to ride slowly though and the high tanks and jerky throttle force one to be aggressive at all times. Riding gently in sand or rough stuff always ends badly.
I imagine the smooth 790 with all it's electric aids makes dirt travel more accessible to broader spectrum of...
