Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE – forget everything you knew about scramblers

This one can really go off-road. The others cannot.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE – forget everything you knew about scramblers

Triumph South Africa were good enough to launch the Scrambler 1200 XE. These are me thoughts: https://thebikeshow.co.za/review-triumph-scrambler-1200-xe-the-bike-that-will-make-sa-go-hey/

The Bike Show- "THE RETURN OF THE LEGENDARY BROUGH SUPERIORS"

Sadly, I didn't get to go to the factory with Mat and Harry, but I saw them at EICMA. Seriously, everyone who walked past that stand had their jaw drop. Those bikes are exquisite. I'm robbing a bank to buy one.

    KTM 790 ADVENTURE

Also interesting is that if you run your motor lean enough, it will eventually produce only water vapour and no harmful gases as all. The only issue is that, at this point, your motor will also produce enough heat to turn the piston into a radioactive custard.

14.7:1 is the best ratio for creating minimum harmful gases. As far as I know it’s good for fuel economy also. The best ratio for performance is 13.2:1.

    KTM 790 ADVENTURE

The Euro5 regulations stipulate that motorcycles have to run an air/fuel mixture of 14.7/1. That’s why.

    Crosby Adventure

We were expecting to hate them. Didn’t happen. Was a lot of fun.

    KTM 790 ADVENTURE

The R is most definitely worth it.

    KTM 790 ADVENTURE

It’s also much less top heavy, it’s much easier to touch the floor on and is much easier to pick up. Give and take, I suppose.

    KTM 790 ADVENTURE

I find this all very weird. I'm not a tall guy, and on the 1090 I'm generally dancing between tip-toes and I struggle to put the side stand out. On the 790 Adventure R, I couldn't quite but both feet down, but I didn't have any problems. Maybe your 790 R has the higher seat?

I went to Morocco to ride the KTM 790 Adventure and didn't die

Here are my tellings of the 790 Adventure and 790 Adventure R in Morocco. Yes, I did fall down and crack a rib. Yes, it was entirely my fault. No, it wasn't the bike's fault.  Apparently, it's better to take a second gear corner in second gear, and not fourth. You live and you learn. It was an...

    KTM 790 ADVENTURE

I was told that the seats are interchangeable. Maybe check on it again.

    KTM 790 Adventure/Adventure R – any questions?

It was more the fault of the route than the bike. There were fast sections with sudden whoops. Plus some dune riding. People got caught out. I rode on the R version with the lower seat setting and didn’t struggle where I struggled on the 1090.

    KTM 790 Adventure/Adventure R – any questions?

I doubt anyone is going to attempt any giant step up jumps on a 790. They are from the XPLOR range of WP, with exactly the same technology as seen on the top Enduro machines.

    KTM 790 Adventure/Adventure R – any questions?

The fuel tanks have hardy protective covers. I’m sure that a hard enough impact will break it, but on the world launch there were a lot of crashes. They averaged two broken bones per group, but no broken fuel tanks. The bike feels very light, even with full tank. Much like when the tank is...

    KTM 790 Adventure/Adventure R – any questions?

It has a 21/18-inch wheel combo do it will be alright. The 200mm suspension is not bad. The R is a good deal better. I’d rather take the 790 into the rough stuff than an 850.
