    The Bike Show

Both those bikes are built in Indonesia. I just dropped the 250 back at Suzuki yesterday. The build quality is Japanese. Yes, a 16 year old cannot legally ride a 150 in South Africa. But they do. When I was 13, I rode a Harley-Davidson to school. It was good fun. Never got pulled over once...

    Husqvarna Vitpilen / Svarpilen 401

Interestingly, South Africa is the only country in the world that finds these names funny. We are the only country that has that connotation. I was at the EICMA Show when they unveiled these, and while the three South Africans in the audience were laughing our **** off, everyone else was giving...

Harry Fisher says the G 310 GS is one of the best adventure bikes he's ridden

If I’m understanding this logic correctly, the quality of your motorcycle is dependent of which sign you’ve nailed to the door of your factory?  I’m guessing your logic applies to KTM also, that are built in the Bajaj factory. Obviously that brilliant 390 motor is a Bajaj motor and therefore...

Harry Fisher says the G 310 GS is one of the best adventure bikes he's ridden

Who said the brakes aren’t up to standard? We just said they are not as sharp. Especially compared to some 2018 standards that bite instantly. They are a long way from dangerous. The brakes on the 310 are the same as those on the 390, and if you think they are substandard then go look on our...

Harry Fisher says the G 310 GS is one of the best adventure bikes he's ridden

Actually, I discovered that at the V4 launch while talking to a bunch of Indian journalists who said that they are battling to sell bikes with disc brakes, with most people preferring drums. They tune the brakes down slightly because the market doesn’t like them sharp.

    Triumph is back in SA

I understand the concern, but may I suggest a case study - Ducati. They have only recently opened a Cape Town dealership, and yet they have been selling more units than South Africa ever has out of their sole Johannesburg store.

    Triumph is back in SA

They did pull out. And they signed a contract with the new guys only in February. If that had fallen apart they’d still be searching.

    Triumph is back in SA

There were about three months when you couldn’t buy a new Triumph. Also, there were about five months when we didn’t know for sure if there’d be a new distributor.

SA man breaks Cairo to Cape record

People used to measure beards according to bushiness and blackness. These days they measure them on how ginger they are. #truestory #promise

SA man breaks Cairo to Cape record

Indeed is was a Gixxer. It was his third attempt – the bike blew up the first two times. 2 hours 59 minutes and 10 seconds. This was while running out of fuel just before Jo'burg and getting a hand from a passerby with a fuel can.

SA man breaks Cairo to Cape record

A South African fella has broken the motorcycle record for Cairo to Cape on his KTM 1190 Adventure R, completing the journey in a little more than 7 days. Not bad, I'd say. https://thebikeshow.co.za/cairo-cape-record-broken/

Harry Fisher says the G 310 GS is one of the best adventure bikes he's ridden

Ah! My sleep-deprived, jetlagged brain somehow inserted the number 188 here. I’m really not sure why. Even I  agree would agree that that is a ridiculous weight. Apologies. Yeah, so if they removed the bunny hugger crap, and made it feel like sitting on a church pew in a wind tunnel, the...
