The Desert front works in one environment only - sand. On anything else it is crap, stay away. The Desert rear on the other hand is almost the perfect dual/off-road tyre.

If you are wanting to convert a 2005 - 2007 low mudguard jobbie then this is what you need. One mudguard off of your choice of KTM off-roads. Couple of hundred bucks only. If you are happy to have one disc on the front only (like all preceding year models), then just remove one disc, caliper...

The turning circle is fine, no issues. I pick up quickly on a crap turning circle, the 640, 950 and Versys turn like there is a world of space available.
