Exploring the new Explorer- Official launch report

I checked, the pressure gauge alarm value is fixed, you cannot adjust it, so you are sitting in basically the same boat there. And yes, that tyre valve angle is the way every bike should have been.

Exploring the new Explorer- Official launch report

It is a sort of protective cover. There is some tank in there, but it is difficult to see because Triumph, unlike everybody else, went through the trouble of covering all open panel pieces. They call it Infill Panels.

Exploring the new Explorer- Official launch report

I would have loved to give you an informed opinion on all those, the problem is that I have not ridden alll those with the view to give them a proper review. I personally was very interested in the Honda for instance. But they did not see fit to invite the Wilddogs to a launch. Which is sort of...

Exploring the new Explorer- Official launch report

The base price for the bike is right at R144 500. The price on  the panniers is in the region of R7400. And you are right, no more replacing a pannier when you damage it, the individual panels are seperately replace-able. Here is a pic.

Exploring the new Explorer- Official launch report

As some of you may know I attended the launch of the new 2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 last week in Magaliesburg. I would also like to thank Arnold Olivier of Triumph SA for giving the Wilddogs an opportunity to have a first hand look at this new DS flagship for Triumph. Before we get going...

    The two beasts - 690 vs XR650R

Maybe the two I have ridden then had a fueling problem that is not common in all 690's. Good to hear.

    The two beasts - 690 vs XR650R

Finally someone says it. I watch thread after thread making out like the 690 is the best thing since sliced bread. And on paper it does look good, that amount of power, the weight, the switchable engine mapping etc puts it in it's own class but I do not want one for free. The fueling is...

Wow, you are right about the good price. I did not see a 640 Adventure on their list though. Which one did you get?

    DRZ 400 parts for sale

Leon, These are the good ones off the E model, adjustable for compression and rebound. I am under the impression it is a 2003, I attach a pic of the vin so you can check. The forks are in a good condition, except that the dust covers look a little cracked, you may want to replace them...

Which D/S bikeis the best commuter?

I normally get 19km/l, but I ride like a doos. Most people should get a lot better.

Which D/S bikeis the best commuter?

The fuel economy on the Versys is better than on the 1200. Parts prices I don't know. It never needs them. I have 40 odd thousand kms on it now and have only ever had to change the oil filter. The air filter is washable. I put higher & wider bars on. R800 will sort you out. This bike is just...

Which D/S bikeis the best commuter?

I have both the 1200GS and the Versys. I got the Versys for the exact same reason as you are now looking around. I wanted to save the kilos on the R100k bike and rather put it on a R50k bike. Between the two, the 1200 is the better commuter. The low revs, the torque and the excellent screen...

    Road worthy kit for 690

Verstaan nie die vraag nie. Alle 640's kom van die fabriek af reeds roadworthy. Hoekom sal 'n kit nodig wees?

A4 in Lesotho. How ruff is this piece of road

The one is Mathebeng Pass just before you drop down to Sehlabathebe National Park. The other, if I recall correctly, is just past Sehonghong. This is the one that may be problematic for someone without confidence, it is steep, loose, cambered and can lead to a runaway for a newby. The road is...
