So the rear brake has been sorted! Not too difficult really. It is just a flat piece that has to force the brake shoes apart. Whichever way.

The new bike has no screen? At the speeds she travels it is not needed, and they break anyway at some stage. A screen makes it difficult to see the gnarly stuff. Only benefit of a screen is to protect your gps...

210kg with luggage... vs CRF300 Rally 180kg fully loaded. Its like carting along half a bag of cement.

A 46 year old bike? Lots have happened in 37 years. So many advances in design and technology, and just making things better. I am not sure that a 40 year old design is still better than a 2024 design? Also, anything over 10 years old you have to start hunting for spares....

The 600 does have more chugging ability than the CRF300, making it more relaxing to ride gnarly stuff. Carb is also a bit more forgiving than EFI, especially at low rpm. That engine would most probably be happy hovering between 3000 and 4000 rpm.

A plastic tank would have worked much better to reduce COG. Those big metal tanks are heavy!
