none of mine had the external batt pack, I didn’t find it necessary and it’s bulky. I don’t know if they still make the model/s I have/had anymore. I think the Swift RL is the closest. I must say the straps do become “pap” but after many years it’s understandable & l’m sure spares are available...

Petzl are expensive but you cannot beat their quality/longevity. I’ve had 3 over the last 20+ year, still got two. The fancier one has a system where the lamp adjusts automatically to the darkness, which works like a bomb. You can set to various fixed levels as well.

I’ve personally done the experiment with a genuine K&N on an FJ Cruiser with a snorkel. It DOES let very fine dust through! Replaced with Paper, NO visible dust. As far as I can see all K&Ns are made the same

Xhorixas looks as though it’s gained some big buildings! I only remember an Hotel with camping, a few house & Police station! The local Cop took my Dad & I to Torra Bay through lots of locked gates in his K20 Police Van, amazing scenery!

Wouldn’t taking power from the ignition switch work? You could even add a small pilot/indicator lamp into the circuit so that once the alternator is excited the lamp goes out as in older vehicles.

Imho, two U-shaped (with 90 degree drilled “feet“ at each end) straps & 4 x 6mm bolts/nuts/washers would be a tidy strong solution, if one wanted to go OTT then a third strap would be bomb-proof! From your pics it looks as though you could use two existing mounting bolts to secure the top “feet”...

I’m sure you could tow a truck with that!
