Namibia in pictures....(motivate ur Namibian trip)

I know, I don't know why I put myself through it. No, the seal was fine - the bike just started leaking petrol from the overflow and running down the torque arm when it went over.  ::) The only problem I had with the bike was an oil leak from the left hand camchain tensioner, which I upgraded...

Namibia in pictures....(motivate ur Namibian trip)

Some of the pics are from the Caprivi, (near Divundu) but no, it was actually a sundowner on the Onguma conservancy by the Namutoni gate at Etosha.  Great place to stay if you want to do some game viewing. The campsite there is brilliant - private ablutions, pool, and a bar/restaurant. ...

    Namibia 2 weeks - 28 May to 12 June 2022

No permit required for Kolmanskop - was there a few weeks back, just paid and entered.  We left the bikes and gear at the gate with the guard and wandered around.  You can, however, ride the somewhat sandy road up to the main reception.  Beware sandstorms later in the day on the way to Luderitz...

Where has your bike taken you today?

Yesterday went down to Cape Point, but only got as far as the gate.  R360 per person to enter??? That's 18 quid!  Is the government using the park to pay off the national debt?  Anyway, carried on round through Scarborough where we had lunch.  Lovely spot, good coffee, many cheerful hippies. ...

    Jet wash in CT?

Have tried Google, which throws up valeting places which is not exactly what I need, so does anyone know where I can find a jet wash site/garage near the centre of Cape Town?  The 1100 needs a (bloody) good wash before it goes home on Friday!

Where has your bike taken you today?

From Oudtshoorn to Montagu today, taking the very scenic gravel road from the bottom of the Swartberg pass to Calitzdorp. Like riding through the Garden of Eden, so beautiful.  Bumped into a chap along the way, 86 years old and still having a ball on his bike.  Saw some giraffes an' all, bonus...

Where has your bike taken you today?

We've been up north!  Didn't do quite the route planned, but got as far as the Caprivi.  Heading over to Oudtshoorn tomorrow for a couple of nights before working our way back to Cape Town.  We were due to leave for home (UK) on the 16th,  but flight has  been cancelled, and I ain't going to...

Where has your bike taken you today?

Lekker indeed! I remember that word from when I lived near Amanzimtoti as a kid.  More than a hint of High Britishness here in Matjiesfontein - our hotel has two union flags flying and we toured the town on a 1950s London bus yesterday. Anyway, looks like we aren't going home any time soon, so...

Where has your bike taken you today?

On the R354 between Calvinia and Sutherland, en route to Matjiesfo tein.  Very enjoyable and still some water in the drifts to negotiate.

    Hydration back packs

For cleaning use the stuff you sterelise your home brew kit with and dry thoroughly.

    Hydration back packs

Kriega.  Have used mine for years.  Bombproof and so easy to put on and take off.  Insulated too!  It has a waist strap, but I never use it.

    New Covid Variant - Namibia

Yeah, definitely favouring not going into Botswana.  Will try to pick up the current trip from Gobabis or Mariental as we have expensive accommodation booked at Fish River.  Be a pain if we can't then get out of Namibia though.

    New Covid Variant - Namibia

Woke up this morning to hippos grunting in the river at Nunda Lodge in Northern Namibia, happy happy, then I get the news that there has been a new Covid variant detected here and flights out of this part of the world have been cancelled.  Not so happy happy!  Usual knee jerk **** from the UK's...

FS: 2004 Aprilia SL Falco 1000 REDUCED

My Falco was transformed for me by putting the bars above the yokes. Easy conversion, makes the bike so much more comfortable to ride if you are getting a bit creaky in the joints.  Superb engine, made even better for me by fitting a Gabro Racing chip.  Sorry, slight thread hijack, but I do like...

Advice needed for routes from Cape Town to Namibian border?

Excellent.  We are at Etosha (Onguma Tamboti campsite by the Namutoni Gate)  Everything back on track now, hopefully no more upsets.

Advice needed for routes from Cape Town to Namibian border?

Excellent news on the bike front.  Still trying to persuade the others to continue, next couple of weeks tar only, but the other chap has seemingly made up his mind.  Mega ellie action here (one so close to the bar I almost felt obliged to fetch him a beer ;D) looking forward now to Etosha, and...

Advice needed for routes from Cape Town to Namibian border?

Oh well, our route has changed a little - our companions made it to Windhoek (probably spent all their time looking for a Shark helmet visor) but have decided they cannot travel another inch on gravel.  So we decided to stay on elephant watching in Palmwag before going to Etosha and then up to...
