Guess who I just bumped into ?...............Noraly

I was hoping we'd see her losing her rag and screaming at them to eff off. Looked like a hell of a day anyway.

Where has your bike taken you today?

Ta! Perhaps they were all at home cutting the grass before going out on the Saturday. Saw a few coming the other way a bit later, and while we were parked up an R80g/s Paris Dakar went by, but yeah, not so many out for some reason. Later on in the season there will be loads though, many from...

Where has your bike taken you today?

First attempt at a video on my first proper ride of the year. Sorry it's not up to ItchyBoots standards, but I'm trying to learn. Anyway, this is part of a lovely loop to the west coast from Inverness via Gairloch. The video is from Kinlochewe viewpoint to Gairloch where we stopped for lunch on...

I suppose she has quite a lot of gear on the bike, and 90% of the time it buzzes along just fine so she probably doesn't want more weight. Reckon it'll need some TLC after all that sand though. I reckon she's handling things great, some of what she tackled looked horrible.

Something good to be said for digital clocks!

Taking my bike to the UK

Might be worth checking the miles/km speedo thing for the MOT. Mate of mine had a Laverda SFC which had no speedo at all, and the only requirement was that he had to know when he was doing 30mph so he marked on the tacho what 30 was in first gear. And I'm pretty sure my Laverda RGS was in...

Taking my bike to the UK

There will always be fees to pay - unloading etc, but you can save by doing the paperwork yourself. I don't think you have to be present in the UK for bikes, so I guess one in a container of furniture and what not would just be treated all together the same. For a bike on its own bit of info...

Taking my bike to the UK

When you get it here there is a bit of paperwork to do, but it's pretty straightforward. https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/registering-an-imported-vehicle

Does her bike have a tip over sensor? Seems to have come down a ltlle harder than usual, perhaps you need to switch it on, off and back on again in neutral to reset it or something.

I'm really enjoying this latest series, clickbait or no. At least she doesn't describe things as INSANE!!! too often. Getting people to watch is how she pays for all that travelling, and anyone who has ever put together a long form RR (where did they all go?) might have an idea of how much...

Info on Namibia / Zambia / Zim

I'm a bit out of date, but crossing into Zim from Zambia at the Kariba dam is/was quiet and relaxed. We stayed at the Carribea Bay hotel overlooking the lake which was fun. If you are going to Great Zimbabwe then Norma Jean's at Lake Mutirikwi has great camping and rooms in an old lodge.

    Knobby or Knobbly?

Yanks (ie ADVrider) seem to always call them knobbys, but in the UK at least it's knobbly.

    Looking for yellow spotlights

My Denalis can be fitted with amber lenses from the manufacturer,  adding to their already eye watering cost. The do work well though.

Dunno about the colour, but it looks like this to me: Bit spendy for me, but a cool piece of kit for sure. I use the Drive Mode Dashboard app from the same people, definitely fancy one of their controllers as my phone doesn't respond to gloves.

Is she using a Carpe Iter tablet in place of the Garmin 700?

Yeah, north, west and east Africa I think she said. Reckons it will be intense. I bet it will be! I would love to do something like that, but west Africa seems like a bit of a mission. Maybe she'll show ne how it's done.

All NI Racing Cancelled for 2023.

Bloody shame that, enjoyed watching the highlights. Big part of NI motorsport wiped out there- wonder what will be next? Not sure if this will be viewable, but more detail from the Beeb: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-64591498

    1100 GS front brake "stiff"

Wise words from Welsh, those lines have to go. It's easy enough to change the lines ABS doesn't really make a difference. I also found cleaning out the caliper especially the groove under the seals helps with brake drag. You can just carefully reuse the seals, but it's better to renew of...

Have you stripped and cleaned the pivot? Make sure when you remove the pivot you get the Allen key seated properly, it's easy to mess the socket up. The pivot has a plastic bush on it which is available as a spare part. I use a little silicon grease when reassembling as I think it will be OK...
