Remember most adventure tyres are rated to 160km/h . Just checked and saw that the 2009 KTM 990 has a 16/42 and is 20km/h slower than a 950 .

Sprocket sizes . You most likely have 17/42 which is better for highway use . 16/45 and You will have lots of fun . 950 only comes alive after 4500rpm . Remember 17/42 is in the region of 220km/h . You don't need that on gravel .

I also didn't think that it was necessary or ktm would have done it and the fact that it would interfere with the position of my tyre levers and tools .

The 950 sounds nice once the std pipes have been gutted.

If you are gonna get the shims set I would take it to off road cycles and get the carbs cleaned at the same time .

WTF........Did a check on what has been spent on this bike in the short time I have owned it . I kept most of the slips .

Carbs have been cleaned and the bike is running again. Bought new exhaust gaskets and clamps as I want to be sure nothing is sucking air or blowing. New timing chain tensioners just for peace of mind .
