XR 600 R - is it still worthwhile option?

I agree, it is not a commuter. I tried that many moons ago. On the highway it is hard on the body with harsh vibration. Lights are poor. Fuel consumption and range are poor. It does not even have an ignition key if I remember correctly, just kick and go, so you'll have to chain it to a tree...

    Garmin Montana 610

I've been using a Montana 600 on an AMPS rugged mount for 5+ years. It has been rock solid. It is getting long in the tooth, but still works perfectly for street routing and navigating to points on a map while off the beaten track or in the forest. I also use it quite often to upload a route...

What does the inside of your Garage at home look like??

What does the inside of your Garage at home look like??

This week I sorted my garage out with proper warehouse shelving and pegboards. It feels great to find something the first time without having to play endless ammobox tetris!  :dousing: :lol8: It is a good start! Since it can now be loosely classified as a "workshop", I can use this excuse to...

Exploring the Victorian country side, east of Melbourne Aus

Context quoted above... Here is a nice and recent video of the Grand Ridge Road, 130km of fantastic logging/plantation road along a high ridge. It starts just outside town, and I ride sections of it often. Recent storms have wrecked havoc with downed trees everywhere it seems. Not my video...

    CRF1000L aftermarket shock opinions

:patch: Gelukkig is hy...

    2021 Mileage?

About 7000 km. Spoiled! No commuting, only weekend adv riding and mountain roads. My smile is double the size compared to before, when I used to commute 2+ times that mileage between Pta and Jhb while cursing and dodging taxis.

    CRF1000L Batzen screen adjuster review

Ek bly op die platteland, en hier mag ons selfs tot 110 km/h op die snegweg ry, i.p.v. 80 km/h in die stad. Ek is deesdae so gechill, selfs 110 voel vir my vinnig. :lol8:

    KEVLAR JEANS

I've been using a pair of Draggin Jeans for the last 4 years, and they are still going strong. https://dragginjeans.net/collections/straight/products/classic I bought proper Klim adventure riding pants recently, but will keep the jeans for those times where I want to keep things casual. They...

    CRF1000L aftermarket shock opinions

I eventually decided on a Tractive Extreme with hydraulic preload. The Touratech Extreme is a rebrand of the same shock. https://tractivesuspension.com/shop/motorcycle/honda/africa-twin-2016-2017-honda/x-treme-pa-12/ Installation booked for 1 Dec... :deal:

Useful explanation about shock types, and what features to look for in a shock for adventure riding. https://youtu.be/sJg_rAPp0Rg Summary: For adventure riding, a shock cycles a lot, which generates a lot of heat. Shocks can get hot enough to burn their oil. Reservoir shocks handle heat the...

    CRF1000L aftermarket shock opinions

After about 25000 km on the OEM rear shock, I am thinking about an upgrade. It has been on the soft side since day 1, but I was not in the position to replace it, and I managed to tolerate it for the time being. Questions: - Has anyone installed an aftermarket rear shock and what brand and...

    AT 2021 USB Port Question

My concern is if the USB connections (of both the GPS and power socket) would handle dust and moisture and vibration over the long term. I guess this is the reason why Garmin made the Montana to be powered via the mount instead of the USB connector. I really like the powered Rugged Mount for...
