Smitskraal crossing is knee deep, but stable. Some of the passes are mildly washed out, and feel just technical enough to make you want to commit to a line, but in truth are not onerous. Right now is a fabulous time to ride it, with all the other crossings vibrant with clear mountain water...

and get a proper front tyre!

That 640 vibrates a shed load more than a KLR or a DR 650 …

they're a working farm, with the farmhouse a few ks away - not caterers - although as Rob has pointed out there is an exceptionally well equipped kitchen , so you wouldn't have to carry pots, pans, stoves etc. Just bring some energy bars and some droee wors 😋 ... keep it simple...
