the issues are very random, luck of the draw I guess - in the old days they used to say never buy a car that was assembled on a Monday - reality is how is one to know :)

The 1st inspection is only due at 30,000km's on the 790 and 890's. I bought it new and I'm very particular about air filters, I've run a pre-filter since day one and clean it after every gravel ride and on long trips I take spare pre-oiled ones with.

turn up the heat, literally, with a big corporate that then gets dragged into the KTM mess - that might be part of the petition guys strategy and could definitely work in everyone's favour.

KTM Centurion don't use Motorex, they fill all their serviced bikes with Liqui Moly 10W60. Will be interesting to see if the owners with failed cams used Motorex 10W50 exclusively on their bikes.

Best way to get KTM to take note is for them to feel it in their pockets and bring about as much awareness as possible about the ongoing issues and that they have no shame, as already there's evidence that new 990 engines have the same issues.
