    Lithium motorcycle battery

I've charged Lifepo4's before with my Optimate, no problem. Just make sure it doesn't go onto the desulphate stage.

    Lithium motorcycle battery

Interesting... And perhaps, because a lithium charges much quicker, it's less of an issue if you do run it down...?

    Lithium motorcycle battery

Dankie Geensand! I see now the original battery - and the current Motobatt I have installed - have a CCA of 200A. That means option A would be fine for my 800GS in terms of cold cranking (280A). But the Motobatt (lead acid) has 14Ah capacity: option A above has 48Wh (i.e. 4Ah), while option B...

    Lithium motorcycle battery

Dankie Geensand! It shows how much it pays off to shop around online. Takealot have option A "on special" for R2199 ("down" from R2499), BatteryPowerZone charges R1584. I wonder if option A (CCA=280) will be enough for my F800GS, or whether I should also go for B (CCA=300)...

    Lithium motorcycle battery

What is the general consensus on lithium bike batteries? My F800GS (2009 model) takes a ETX14-BS (14 Ah). Can I replace it with one of these? This is the 48 Wh model, CC amps = 280 A. R2199 on Takealot. Also, a smaller version: 24 Wh, CCA = 140 A. R1244 on Takealot.

F800GS speedo not zero-ing out correctly

Ah, thanks Dylan. I disconnected and reconnected battery too see if a reset helps, but still get the problem intermittently. My battery does seem to take longer to crank the starter, so perhaps due for replacement anyway. But I'll check the throttle thing.

    Tank bag for F800GS

Thanks, some good input. I think these are my requirements, please comment with your real-world experience: Big enough to hold wallet, phone, house keys, sweater, and small windscreen deflector. The latter is homemade and can clip off when off-road. I think 5L is enough? Not too big...

F800GS speedo not zero-ing out correctly

I have an intermittent problem that my speedo doesn't zero out correctly, e.g. on the attached pic you can see it only goes down to 20 km/h when I power the bike off. After restart, it picks up from that as zero, so my speedo moves and reads 20 km/h over the actual value. Sometimes it sorts...

    Tank bag for F800GS

Thanks @Chrisl, I'll have a look. I had a look at Flyingbrick, the Kappa models look interesting, especially the smaller ones (< 10L).
