    Sold My Suzuki DR650SE 2007, 55600km, R40000

By the way: That's the bike. https://wilddog.net.za/threads/one-year-on-a-dr650se.23390/ Further mods since then: Dinesh did the seat for me with more foam and a custom two colour cover. I fitted one of the famous Le Cap bash plates. It comes with the bike. I just took it off for cleaning and...

    Sold My Suzuki DR650SE 2007, 55600km, R40000

It is priced to sell but I am not throwing it away. I want to get rid of three of my six bikes. I do not ride a lot anymore and maintaining the whole lot is just taking up too much of my time. The little Honda it seems is already gone. Not sure about the other bikes. I want to sort out my old C...

    Sold My Suzuki DR650SE 2007, 55600km, R40000

It's not new but I'd say it is pristine for its mileage and age. You find plenty of bikes which are three years old with a quarter of the mileage looking like wrecks.

    Wanted, Bike hire/lease/buy

Bit lacking once it goes beyond really good, fast gravel and rather fragile if dropped. And a maintenance nightmare if you have to do valve clearances ::)

Best off-road bike for riding into Africa?

Suzuki DR650SE if you ride solo. Too dumb to break. I had one guy who came all the way from Poland on one without issues. Ihave been to the Angolan Border and to Dar, also no issues.

Can do the legal speed limit with ease as long as you are no wuss who needs a windscreen or as long as you do...

    I moved!

Just to let everyone know: Last October I decided to move out of the premises I had rented in Edgemead Business Park for 17 years. Iam still working, but from home. I am working a bit less and have a bit more free time, rather than making my landlord rich. My phone number is still the same as is...

    Honda XL500 2025

Likely a CB500X / NX500 derivate: Some "Dakar" styling, a couple of HRC stickers, wire spoke wheels if you are lucky. A porky 200kg ship wallowing about on squishy pavement tourer suspension. Capable of what a XL600V could do three and a half decades ago. A good go almost anywhere touring bike...

    KLR 650 Timing

Timing marks being a bit off is a common issue in KLR engines. Does not necessarily mean something is wrong. Look at the timing chain tensioner. It should be roughly halfway out when removed from the engine AFTER removing the cap and spring. KLR timing chains usually last until the end of all...

    DR650 Cam Chain Tensioner Gasket?

Too late for the OP but for future reference: Get a sheet of 0.5mm gasket paper from Midas, get a scalpel, a pencil and a 7mm hole punch. Make your own gasket. The OEM graphite resin gasket is not only a PITA to remove but it's also known to fail often. 23 years and counting and none of my home...

Which Honda agent in Cape Town for service?

I bought an XR125L ca. 2012 from Mekor. They had torqued the fork tube pinch screws during assembly of the bike (out of the box, not in the factory) to the point where the screws actually bent permanently. Further they claimed that Honda does not sell a service manual for the bike. I ordered the...

    Lithium motorcycle battery

One of the many disadvantages of Li - ion starter batteries is as you stated their lower actual capacity. if you have a problem and are trouble shooting the Li - ion battery may switch off way before the lead acid starter battery collapses. A major advantage of Li - ion is them being pretty much...

    Motorcycle tubeless conversions

The safety hump will delay the moment at which the bead unseats and the tyre blows out considerably. Yes, you can torture a TL tyre side wall on a TL hump rim enough to cause it to blow out. The difference: A TL tyre fitted to a tube type rim will require very little side wall deflection to blow...

    Motorcycle tubeless conversions

I agree with you 100%. I have warned countless times. I was ridiculed and laughed at countless times. No matter how much knowledge and experience you throw at people you will always have the one who says: "I did it ten years ago and it works!" And bet your arse this same person will NOT come...
